* "Navarro's Notes' "Never Forgotten" 3rd Installment: "YCDT On TV" *

If you were growing up in the 1980's then you had a chance to catch this classic sketch comedy show. I loved it watching it when I grew up in Rexdale. I wish that it was airing right now on Television. This classic Canadian produced show aired from 1979 to 1990, for 10 years it went on. There was never a dull moment! If there was, then..."I don't know"...ooooopppppssssssss!!!:

That's right! LOL. If you said that buzz word on the show then you would get slimed. It was great! Sometimes, on the show they would make a big thing of it if you said that word and never got slimed. There was even a delay or the idea that "ha ha! I said it and nothing happened" Even saying "I don't know" over and over then get as many times slimed as you would say "I don't know". It was so funny! No one was ever exempt from getting the green on the dome. Look at some of the victims below:

This was one of those trademarks of this classic show that made it enjoyable to watch. I never got tired seeing people getting slimed. I often wondered too if "He-Man"'s "Slime Pit" action figure set came from the the concept of this show:

* "Navarro's Notes' "Never Forgotten" 2nd Installment: 4 All Spidey Fans! *

The 60's cartoon aired in the 80's as I was growing up in Rexdale. Sometimes the show aired really, really early. From what I remember, the show aired here in Toronto really early on Saturday, but like most kids growing up around that time, I was up to watch it and take in every moment of this classic show. Here's the first thing I saw when the show started:

I loved this cartoon. I loved everything about it. I always said that if I was born in the 60's when the show aired then I would've loved it just the same. I have mentioned before the fond memories of what I hold dear to my heart when it comes to my childhood. This was certainly one of those memories. The actual footage of the show was fairly grainy but it was part of the charm. They were airing the show 20 years or so after it's original run so hey what do you want :)

Watching the show, made me just realize how simple things can be with the show. It was straight forward, Spidey is the good guy with quick & witty barbs and catches bad guys who looked like they were moving action figures. End of the story. There was no special effects or crazy shit that you see today that strips your believability away. It was basic but it's what made it so classic and always enjoyable to watch 45 years after it's original airing. By the way, The Green Goblin was my favorite from the show :)

~~~ "Navarro's Notes' "Never Forgotten" 1st Installment: For All Horror Fans!..... ~~~

 

 

The Horror Hall of Fame I-III ran from 1989 to 1991. Now, this was right up my alley as I was so into horror movies at this point that it seemed all that I watched was horror movies {and Wrestling}. I was living in Scarborough {Malvern} at the time and when it came on, my VCR was rolling.  

Robert Englund aka "Freddy Krueger" was the host of all the shows. A great choice for the host, he was already a horror legend at this point. He made the show even more enjoyable in my opinion.

I always wished that I didn't tape over it because the following year living in Thorncliffe I taped what I could from the 2nd show, eventually ending up with nothing recorded after years of taping over and condensing tapes. I mention this, because now you can't find all of one or two places were you can get copies of the shows now. Otherwise, it's a very forgotten show with not a lot of real information on it online or anywhere else.

Again, I mention this point because there is some confusion for me as to when the show aired. I remember there being 2 shows but I don't remember a 3rd but the 3rd is being listed as something that I could have sworn was apart of either the 1st or 2nd show. I remember the original airing in 1990 not 1989. The fall of 1990 to be exact.

Nonetheless, I loved the show!!! It totally made me love the idea that there was a Hall of Fame for Horror movies and some of my favorite movies were inducted over the course of the 3 shows.  Below, I provide some clips & images from the shows. Well everyone, there it is. In a nutshell, all 3 Horror Hall of Fames. I hope that you enjoyed this little blast from the past especially if your a Horror fan. I will obtain these tapes from the shows and relieve all these great shows. I can't wait! :) 

There has been a few imitators to the original Horror Hall of Fame since then, but none will ever be the same. None will ever be the original, none like this Hall will...
